The word adventure may mean different things to different people, but the word extreme definitely means one thing – ultimate adventure with lots of adrenaline, something you’ve never done before which puts you out of your comfort zone. When it comes to travelling, trips and holidays, sometimes we need more than lying on the beach for hours or walking in the mountains. These activities are perfect relaxation for sure, but what really helps us forget the stress of the job and the problems at work is an extreme vacation. When you do something for the first time and you feel that there could be a slight risk to your life and well-being, the excitement simply cannot be described. If you are a naturally adventurous person, then a quiet walk or a stay in a hotel won’t do. If you want some proper adventure, the following list will give you plenty of choice. Here are some of the top extreme vacations that you can go on.
Diving with sharks: Does it sound a little too frightening for your taste? Don’t worry – people do it all the time and the experience is extremely memorable. It’s probably as extreme a vacation as you can get. The activity is not dangerous in itself – the diver goes underwater inside a cage and receives detailed instructions. At any given moment you will know what you can do and what you shouldn’t do. The shark diving is not a cheap pleasure (around $2500 per person), but it’s definitely once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Cross-country cycling: It doesn’t sound risky enough to be in the category of extreme vacations? Even though it can’t be compared to diving with sharks, it’s still a brilliant activity for those who love being active, enjoy nature and love adventure. You will definitely need a touring company to organize it and ideally you will go with a few friends. The touring company should take care of the gear and the details – overnight accommodation, bikes, mechanics, luggage transportation. Some people choose to do this on their own and go camping, but it’s not very advisable.

Moreover, you need a health insurance in case you injure yourself. Most of these tours include at least 70 miles of cycling a day, which is what makes the experience quite extreme. Cross-country trips can be done in the United States and in Europe. Choose the season wisely and check the weather prior to leaving. Make sure you have cancellation insurance in case you change your mind in the last minute. The price will mostly depend on the length of your cycling trip and the type of the bike, but it’s around $1500.
Cosmonaut experience: If you want to find out what it’s like to be a cosmonaut for a day, you can head to the Star City military facilities, located near Moscow, Russia. It’s an exclusive adventure, where you can explore different ISS and MIR simulators, navigate one and feel like a real cosmonaut. You won’t be able to ride an actual spaceship, but the whole experience is quite realistic and exciting.
There are many other exciting and extreme activities you can try while on holiday. You could go on a safari, on a canoe trip in a jungle, on a hot-air balloon ride and more. Whichever activity you choose, go with people who know how to have fun and want to try the activity just as much as you do.
