Tired
of high gas prices? Fight back by downloading one of these ultra cool
apps. They will help you locate the best prices available, whether
you are close to home, or traveling the open road. They all have pros
and cons, but they do strive to do one important thing: save you
money. Most are free and offer some great features!
1)
YP Yellow Pages & Gas Prices
This
app works the same as the numbers and location lookup functions for
Yellow Pages dot com. It offers maps to locate the gas station, gas
prices and offers local reviews. Yellow Pages has been a trusted
information source for years. (FREE)
2)
Exxon Mobile Fuel Finder
Exxon
jumped into the technology age with both feet. It offers an app that
gives real time information on station locations and current pricing.
It gives GPS accurate directions and some basic information about
each gas station. (FREE)
3)
car-pal+
This
app is visually appealing and offers a little more than pricing
information. Made for users of Windows phones, it helps keep a
maintenance record and reminder list, shows the fuel efficiency of
your car and can locate your nearest gas station. The extra features
of this app make it more than worth the modest price. ($1.99)
4)
Cheap Gas!
Need
to know the lowest gas price? This app will do just that. It lists
them from lowest to highest and will show the locations on a map. It
doesn't have the ability to give directions, but it shows you where
you are at that moment and where the station is located. It’s very
user friendly and simple to look up current information. ($0.99)
5)
Fuel Finder
The
claims of Fuel Finder are that this app can help save over $300 per
year on fuel. It utilizes compiled data from over a million annual
users. I could not verify how frequent the information is updated.
The claims of savings seem high, unless you are a traveling
salesperson. It's designed for iOS phones. ($2.99)
6)
SmartFuel
The
flip side of the previous app is this one by SmartFuel. They claim to
have "the most accurate prices available" by using large
data bases for information. They do not rely on data from app users.
Once again, I was unable to verify how often the information is
refreshed. (Free month trial, then $2.99)
7)
GasBuddy
How
about an app that gives rewards? All you have to do is report gas
prices and you might be the weekly winner of a $250 gift card! This
app shows lowest prices for fuel by listings or map view. It finds
the best prices in both the U.S. and Canada. This is absolutely the
easiest and most comprehensive of the entire fuel savings app galore.
It also features a dot com address to find current gas price
information at home. This one is a winner. (FREE)
8)
Gas Cubby
This
is another great app that will help keep record of maintenance done,
costs, mileage as well as the best gas prices. The ads aren’t that
bothersome, so I would recommend the free version. (Free with ads,
$2.99 without ads)
9)
Gas Mileage Calculator
The
Gas Mileage Calculator app doesn't find the best priced gas, but it's
still a neat one to have. It helps keep track of your fuel mileage,
cost per gallon and total for fuel up. (FREE)
Well,
there you have it! All of the tools you need to save the most money
possible on gas. The only thing left is to hop in that car and drive!
