Honestly, we all have such moments when the ideas just stop coming. Maybe you’re too exhausted and can’t seem to think of something unique right now that will meet your high expectations of creativity. You know that you can do better and refuse to satisfy with something mediocre. It’s all understandable. Believe it or not, but not everyone wakes up with great ideas every morning.
The first suggestion would be to have a rest for a day or two to see if your imagination starts to work at the level you expect it to. Hopefully, if your lack of ideas is due to exhaustion, this method will save the day, and creativity will start flowing again. If that’s not your case though, continue reading.
You know how sometimes inspiration to create something extraordinary just strikes you just like that. Then, you feel so excited to finally finish the project you’ve been working on and see the final result. But there are times when deadlines that depend on your creative mind have to be followed and you simply can’t afford to wait. At moments like this your imagination has to be stimulated, so to speak. Fortunately, there are ways to do that.
1. Acquire as much relevant information as you can get
This is where all the ideas hide. You just have to find them in all the information you have. Depending on the area your project is related to, you have to acquire relevant information. Whether it will be reading magazines, browsing through websites, taking a walk and looking around the surrounding environment, do whatever it feels helpful in making you ‘produce’ fresh, one-of-a-kind ideas.
On the one hand, thanks to Internet now you can get your hands on the specific information you need, but on the other, you might end up with too much irrelevant information as well.
2. Pick only what’s needed
At this stage you’ll have to sort of sift and get rid of the unneeded information. Only the one that’s truly useful can pass to the next step. You may have to go through what you’ve gathered till this point all over again just to be sure what fits in and what doesn’t. If you happen to have some ideas already, no matter now simple they seem, make sure to write them down.
3. Think it over once again
Now that you have all the relevant information, let it sit in your mind for some time. Thinking it over, you might engage in other activities like going out for a walk, contemplating and smelling the flowers in the park, listening to music or whatever helps you think better. You have to stimulate your imagination, so do whatever will be useful to achieve this result.
4. Welcome the flow of ideas
If you’re lucky enough, at this point you should have ideas coming to you out of the blue. Write them down if you have to and consider each one as the possible perfect one. If you feel like you still don’t have that one single strong idea, choose from the ones you already have. You’ll see why in a second.
5. Time to develop the final idea
Even if you think that the idea you chose wasn’t the best one, you still have time to perfect it by developing it further. Thorough thinking is the process that is required here, lots of it actually. This can bring your idea to the next level. Add some glamour to it. You’ve done it before, so you can do it now.
Let’s hope that this method will bring your creativity back. Fingers crossed.
