The Dead Sea is a salt lake bordering Jordan towards the eastern side and Israel and the West Bank towards the western side. Its surface area as well as coast line are 423 metres (1, 388 ft) beneath sea level. It is actually 8.6 times saltier compared to ocean. This salinity results in a hard natural environment in which animals are unable to survive that is why it is called The Dead Sea.
